How to install a gable vent over vinyl siding.
My siding crew will be installing a decorative pvc gable louvered keystone vent for a customer of mine.
I have what may be a stupid question to you all but i have never installed one of these typically only normal vinyl gable vents in the past.
Step 2 squeeze lots of caulking under the flange and install the gable vent plumb in the opening.
Drill the eight vent mounting holes through the plywood using the vent itself as a template.

Place it between the studs and the gable ends.
Installing a gable vent over vinyl siding.
Now we would like to install new gable vents.
I have vinyl siding and i am curious on install.
Insert the two top carriage bolts into the vent s mounting holes and glue them in place so they won t fall out.
I ll cut the hole from the inside.

Use a pencil for this and make sure that you draw accurately on this step.
Should just cut threw the siding and wood at the same time.
Before actually installing the vinyl gable vent prepare the area where the installation will take place by removing any insulation that would be in the way.
Insert flashing and a drip guard across the top.
Or do i try to take the siding apart where i have to cut.

I am thinking that i should be able to cut holes in the siding where the old vents used to be and then install new gable vents on top of the siding as long as they have some sort of nailing flange.
In the event that your vent did not come with a template you can simply use the vent itself.
Slip the metal cap flashing under the siding and building paper at the top of the vent opening.
