We ended up remo.
Measure the length of the window or door where you want to install an awning.
Make 2 identical 2 dimensional right triangle frames attached to the ends of your square frame.
Cut each end of each piece at an angle to ensure a clean fit.
Use your template roof to measure and cut angled truss boards then screw them together and into the end caps.
Create a 2 dimensional square frame and attach an equally sized square frame to it so they share a middle spine.
Install the corbels flush with the top of the door trim and against the side door trim.
These three boards will form the shape of the roof of your awning.
Build the corbels out of 2x4s by screwing together l shapes and adding a 45 degree angled piece between them.
The triangle should be 1 to 2 feet high in the center and nailed to the framing members with 16 galvanized framing nails.
Covering 16 feet.
As this blog explains it s a relatively demanding project but if you are up for a challenge it shouldn t be impossible to manage.
Place two 2x4 boards above the one that you just installed to form an equilateral triangle.
Plan to use a standard awning width of between 24 and 36 inches.
