A furring edge is a strip of one by two wood you install on the vertical surface of the house just beneath the roof s edge.
Slip the wide flat flange of the material all the way under the first course of roof shingles as illustrated.
Make sure to support the long end of the cut if you let it fall after cutting it will bend down and kink the drip edge.
