How to install batt insulation in an attic.
So if you re installing insulation in an attic that doesn t have any used faced insulation and put the paper side down toward the ceiling.
Choose your insulation type.
Lay the batts across the ceiling joists covering the existing insulation.
Measure and mark the height on the baffle.
Position the batt of insulation at the outer edge of the attic and roll the batt in the channel between the joists toward the center of the attic.
Once the old insulation has been removed and the attic is cleaned the installation of the new insulation can begin.
If you re installing additional insulation in an attic that s already insulated use unfaced insulation that doesn t have a vapor barrier.
Cut side fin and fold baffle at the measured mark to allow for correct insulation height.
Calculate how much you need.
Continue laying down the insulation making sure the batts are pressed tightly together at all edge and end.
While wearing dust mask and gloves carry r 38 batts of unfaced fiberglass insulation into the attic.
