We are making and installing a saddle for a chimney on a 2 story tile roof repair.
How to flash a chimney on a tile roof.
Step 5 replace roof tiles.
Some homes have a pipe on the roof along with the chimney.
Next hammer the nails into the top of the tiles which will secure the new tile to the roof.
Luckily it was only about a 3 12 pitch.
Pound the flashing into the grooves and fasten with the drive in expanding anchors.
Drill a hole on each side of the chimney front.
Pan flashing should extend at least 12 inches up the roof plane.
Hammer the plastic anchors into the holes.
Fit the front cap flashing around the front of the chimney.
Rivet the pan flashing to the sidewall flashing.
Repeat the procedure around each side of the chimney.
Screw the pan flashing to the roof with gasket screws.
Ensure that you don t force the tile in place.
Bend it into the top of the pipe.
Use the straight cutting tin snips and cut the top above the old pipe.
This ensures a water tight seal.
Trim and install new roof tiles.
The flashing should be taller than the pipe.
Secure the cap flashing by inserting the flashing s flange all the way into the mortar.
Use caulking to attach flashing to the pipe.
It is important to install flashing on the pipe as well.
It was sprinkling this day and the algae on the tiles was extra slippery.
Bend the cap flashing around the front of the chimney.
Place the new tile on the holder lash and after that hang it where the new tile will need to be fitted.
Bend a piece of cap flashing to fit around the top corner of the chimney and add the cap flashing across the back of the chimney.
