In sketch mode select a roof boundary line that defines slope indicated by.
In the option bar make sure defines slope is activated for boundary lines.
This create an uni directional slope parallel to the arrow.

To create a slope for an odd shaped roof like the one below use slope arrow.
Use slope arrows to define slopes on a roof such as a 4 sided gable roof.
Do not give any slope to your roof edges.
Select the roof edges you want your fascia to fix to.
Then go to a suitable plan view and draw your soffit boundaries.
After you finish creating the roof select it.
First activate add split line and draw the lines like below.
You will see shape editing tools from in your ribbon contextual tab.
Use model in place with a sweep and use pick 3d edges.
