To add a little utility to your crate collection all you need are some industrial strength drywall anchors screws and washers.
How to attach crates to wall.
Hold the milk crate up to the wall with one hand and add a washer and a screw with the other.
By orienting the crates on a 45 bias they turn into a self supporting structural system while adding even more storage space in the vs created by the vertexes.
Next use the drill to screw in the screws.

We hung on drywall so we pre drilled holes using a drill and drill bit the size of our drywall anchors then we hammered in the drywall anchor placed the crate over the anchors making sure we could drill.
Add washers and thread the nuts onto the machine screws.
