Genie Garage Door Opens But Does Not Close

Try to keep the cord as parallel to the rail of the garage door opener as possible.

You may need to give the cord a slight yank to reconnect. Genie openers apply only limited force to the garage door during closing. The door won t reach the ground if the maximum level of force is exceeding during closing. Door starts down then stops before it is closed.

Pull emergency release cord and knob toward the motor. If the problem persists check to see if the red safe t beam led indicator is blinking. Sometimes when a garage door won t open or close it does not actually mean there is anything wrong with the door your remote or even one of the opener assembly parts. The issue could all boil down to the simple goof of a disconnected motor.

Check for and clear any obstructions in its way. Press and hold the wall console button until the garage door is completey closed. You should now be able to operate the door using the genie garage door opener. If it is be sure that the lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage door opening.

If an operational problem exists and the garage door opener will not close the opener can be forced to close.
