T his is a pretty uncommon problem but one that can happen after you ve first installed your garage door opener.
Genie garage door opener wont go up or down.
If not re engage it.
They both have lights and both lights should be on.
This sets the in car transmitter to be your garage door openers make transmitter but you are not done.
Hold your transmitter up near the selected button pressing both the garage door remote and the selected in car transmitter button simultaneously.
Check to make sure the pulley is not boken.
In the funniest of scenarios the problem will simply be due to an unplugged power cord.
If the door goes up but you can t make it go down you probably need to adjust the sensors.
If it won t move go back up to pull the red cord again.
Once you have it open you ll have to prop it up with something to prevent it from sliding down again.
Try making small adjustments.
Check for and clear any obstructions in its way.
You may have to call a locksmith or find a way to break in.
There is one on each side of the door.
If the problem persists check to see if the red safe t beam led indicator is blinking.
It s important to get this switch at just the right distance from the motor so that the door is able to close all the way but the motor also knows to stop running.
Check to make sure the chain belt assembly is not broken or off its pulley.
Sometimes a garage door won t open or close for one reason only the operator has no power connection.
Hold down on the buttons until the in car red light flashes rapidly.
You might have absentmindedly unplugged the operator as you were exiting the garage through your internal door to the house.
If it is be sure that the lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage door opening.
This is related to the up limit switch.
Replace broken chain belts sprockets or pulleys.
Lift the door with both hands.
