To try and correct the problem make sure the eyes on the sensors are clean the wire connections are securely fastened at the sensors and motor head and the eyes are directed at each other.

Set the step ladder under the garage door opener in your garage and use it to access the up and down limit switch adjustment screws located on the side of the garage door opener motor housing. Your garage door may be disconnected from the opener. Turn off the sure lock aka vacation mode on the wall console check if limits are properly set check the door balance condition and door spring check opening force control or force settings. Remove any old limit clips which may still be attached to the chain.

Using the push button or transmitter position the garage door approximately 1 to 2 feet from the closed position. If this is the reason you will need to reengage the carriage. Check that the emergency release cord has not been pulled. Found on genie screw drive openers and overhead gar.
